To celebrate one whole year of Lonsdale Gate, we wanted to shine the spotlight on the two ladies responsible for the running of the centre. After all, it would be rude not to!
Q. Hey ladies, tell us about yourselves?
Saskia: I grew up in Malaysia and my parents lived in the Middle East for ten years, so I’ve been very fortunate to travel around the world while growing up. In my spare time, I like to visit my family and walk my dog: Archie.
Ellen: Growing up I enjoyed art. It’s always been a large part of my life, and I have sold a couple of pieces myself. I’m also interested in fashion and hoping to start a fashion blog.
Q. What is your favourite part about working at Lonsdale Gate?
Saskia: Being able to work with such a diverse group of people makes every day different and more enjoyable.
Ellen: Working at Lonsdale Gate, two days are never the same! It always keeps me challenged and on my toes. Ultimately, the tenants and Sass are what makes it a lovely place to work.
Q. Tell us more about your role in the company…
Saskia: I joined Penhurst during the very last stages in the making of Lonsdale Gate, which was a great experience seeing as I had recently completed a degree in Interior Architecture. This enabled me to move into role as Business Centre Manager with confidence, bringing a vast knowledge of the foundations of the centre thus aiding the smooth operation of the business centre as a whole.
Ellen: I started at the company as a Business Centre Co-ordinator and have since had the opportunity to progress to Head of Social Media. I plan, curate content for and control all twelve social media accounts. As an artistic person, having this creative outlet is so fulfilling and I feel so lucky to have been given such responsibility considering I only started in the company in June 2020.
Q. How did you come across Penhurst?
Saskia: I was fresh out of university looking for a local opportunity to put my newfound knowledge to use!
Ellen: Trying to find a job! I was made redundant in my previous role and was very lucky to find a job in the property realm, which has always been an interest of mine.
Q. Tell us more about your working background and education…
Saskia: I spent six years in retail and realised it wasn’t my passion, so I decided to retrain! Coming from an engineering family, design has always been in my blood.
Ellen: I’ve been working since I was fourteen, starting with a paper round! Being a creative and driven individual, I completed A Levels in Fashion, Fine Art and Media Studies. Once I left sixth form, I went on to complete a Business Administration apprenticeship… and here we are!

Q. Where is your favourite spot for after work drinks?
Saskia: When the sun is shining, Thursday Night Jazz Night at the Pantiles is the place to be! Live jazz music, drinks flowing and a buzzing atmosphere makes it such an enjoyable experience.
Ellen: One Warwick Park Hotel! Their snug in particular is great for a sophisticated, chilled out vibe.
Q. Where would you recommend as a venue for a business lunch?
Saskia: The White Bear is an absolute must for a beautifully trendy location. If you can, grab a table at their Orangery – I promise you won’t regret it!
Ellen: I think Côte Brasserie is an easy option – great food and a classy setting.
